Desmond Clark, Power Networking Club

Great networking event today at Granite City in Naperville.  Organized by Tom Jikomes, the Power Networking Club does a fantastic job getting entrepreneurs and small business owners a chance to meet each other and learn from the others in the group.

Today’s speaker was former Chicago Bear football player Desmond Clark. I have known Dez since approximately 2010 and he was a our celebrity host of a 2011 Sports Philanthropy golf outing.

Dez does fantastic work in the community and keeps as busy as anyone that I have seen.  In addition to his financial planning work at  Dez has created a course call Total Success Solutions through which he helps entrepreneurs maintain accountability and improve their business performance.  He also created the Desmond Clark Foundation which has launched the Pink Tuesday initiative.  So next Tuesday, throw on your Pink and post a picture and tag it to Dez so that he sees the momentum that is gathering over social media.  He is now collaborating with the American Cancer Society and that partnership should be a terrific way for him to continue to give back to the community.

If you are interested in learning more about Dez and his activities, you can also attend “Breakfast With a Bear”  for a more intimate setting with him and the opportunity to get a behind the scenes tour of Soldier Field and the parts that are not typically accessible to the public!

Wisconsin Alumni Association-Welcome to the City-Chicago Chapter

Roy Kessel at Beyond The Game presentation at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin

Fantastic event tonight at the Wisconsin Alumni Association’s Chicago Chapter “Welcome to the City” event at Compass Bar.

The turnout involved over 100 young Badgers congregating for the chance to networking and meet new people in the city and be prepared to kickoff the Badgers’ football season Friday night against Western Kentucky at Camp Randall Stadium.

I always love seeing the energy of a new group of graduates as they flood the city and head into an exciting time in their life.  Sure, we all know that the reality of work life will hit them soon, but that passion and energy are enough to keep them on target and focused on their future.  And groups like the WAA give them a terrific base of support for people that they can reach out to for mentorship, networking and business relationships, comfortable in the knowledge that as fellow Badgers, we always have your back.
